We are half way through 2016 and has officially hit the “Autumn” segment of the year but in my part of the world we are still sailing through monsoons. I have been lot less active on blog since last few weeks because I had my ICF certification for Life Coach. I got passed with good marks and now I am a certified Life Coach. I will be sharing more on this in my personal segment sometime in the future. For today’s post I have come up with

This is part of the Illuminating range that was showcased in Lakme Fashion Week 2016. This is for the first time Lakme came up with this kind of professional looking eyeshadow palettes. Earlier I have used the classic Lakme eyeshadow quads and loose powder shadows variants .

Lakme Absolute Illuminating Eyeshadow Palette Gold
A multi-faceted eye shadow for the diva in you, Lakmé Absolute Illuminating Eye Shadow Palette is here to give your eyes the ultimate shine!
Lakme Absolute Illuminating Eyeshadow Palette Gold is attractively packaged ensemble of 6 eyeshadow pans studded in flip open plastic case. Interestingly, the cardboard box which holds this palette is sponge cushioned to keep the palette safe. White alphabets against Black backdrop looks simply beautiful and professional. Palette has good quality decent sized mirror and comes with dual ended sponge applicator.
Out of 6 eyeshadows, 4 eyeshadows can be categorized as “Neutral’s” brown toned. Other two being Olive green and Peach pink shades.
Shade 1 is medium pigmented Golden Brown shade which has soft powdery texture . It has tendency of fall outs but being skin toned still give some room for mistakes. I primarily use this shade as transition color or to blend the darker shades in the palette . It has gold shimmer which is barely detectable but enhance the radiant finish of the brown gold color. I liked this shade for daywear but texture is not impressive.
Shade 2 is medium pigmented ,dark brown eyeshadow which makes the palette versatile as this dark shade can be used for day to night transformation- Smokey Eyes. Texture is slightly stiff . It has tendency to look patchy if not blended carefully. I spotted some fall out with this powdery eyeshadow . So I strongly recommend using eye primer underneath to hold back eyeshadow and smoother-even blending.
Shade 3 is medium pigmented, beautiful warm brown eyeshadow which can be used as lid color as well as transition color with darker eyeshadows. It is lovely shade that I have used maximum so far and is ideal “pick me up” for Indian Skin tones. It has mild gold shimmer which parts slight satin finish to this shadow which otherwise feels powdery matte in pan.Texture is powdery and has minor fall out during application.
Shade 4 is Olive Green eyeshadow which looks pigmented in pan but sheers out completely once you blend the eyeshadow. Texture is soft powdery and it has major fall out during application. I was slightly disappointed by this eyeshadow as I expected the shade burnt green-0ut of gold should be prettiest. But the texture, pigmentation and finish turned out to be not so enticing. It tends to look patchy towards the end of the day.
Shade 5 is lovely peach pink color which fits more as a blush than an eyeshadow for me. I still don’t take it against the palette as I have used this shadow couple of times as blush color.Texture is powdery soft and it has understated gold shimmer. I would have loved a pure gold or champagne gold eyeshadow instead of this in palette.
Shade 6 is muddy brown eyeshadow with medium pigmentation. On my lids, I will prefer to use it as transition color. I will not use it my inner corner unless I am doing smokey eyes. Like other shadows in the club, it has understated shimmer and stiff powdery texture.
All the eyeshadows blend smoothly.Although I was extra cautious working out with Shade 2 and Shade 4 which can look patchy if not given attention while blending. Eyeshadows wear smooth with minimal creasing but Shade 4 tends to lose intensity after 4-4.5 hours of wear.Wearing primer underneath remarkably improves the intensity and wear time of the eyeshadows.
VANILLA RATINGS 6.5/10
I was impressed with packaging of Lakme Absolute Illuminating Eyeshadow Palettes but a “Proper Highlighting/ Inner corners” eyeshadow is missing in palette which is an important prerequisite of complete shadow palette. Texture is comfortable to work with but I seriously missed soft satiny texture of Lakme 9 to 5 Eyeshadow Quartets-Tanjore Rush being my super favorite. Shade 4 could have been better formulated in pigmentation and wear-time segment. Shade 5 does not serve “much” purpose of the eyeshadow palette rather I would have loved Satiny burnished Gold or Shouting Shimmer Gold Eyeshadow. For this price, this palette did not excite me much either. Again,I would have loved this palette more if the eyeshadows had been assigned names.
